Better than Trossard & Martinelli: Arsenal chasing £56m Eze alternative

da bet7: With talents such as Max Dowman and Ethan Nwaneri breaking onto the scene, Arsenal are primed for many years of success and excitement at the forefront of domestic and European football.

da stake casino: But, for now, Mikel Arteta is thinking in the present, and he knows that these prodigious youngsters must be eased onto the senior stage. That’s why he has been so focused on signing superstars to improve his Gunners squad this summer.

Arsenal have finished second across the past three Premier League terms, but there’s no question that this team has made considerable gains since the Spaniard took to the dugout five years ago.

Now, the likes of Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard need to spearhead this project toward silverware, crowning a golden era with something tangible.

The £63m acquisition of Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres, one of the most feared centre-forwards in Europe, has certainly inched the club that step closer, but a creative winger is sought-after too.

Arsenal lining up new winger

Arsenal are pushing to sign Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, who has a £68m release clause.

A principal agreement for the base layer of that clause has been agreed, but details remain before technical director Andrea Berta steers the deal across the finish line.

Eze operates across multiple attacking berths. His high-speed, fleet-footed dribbling makes him apt to star out on the left, although he has typically been played as a central midfielder with a license to roam while with the Eagles.

The 27-year-old might not be the out-and-out winger that Arsenal need, perhaps even bearing a skill set that could see such a player join the crew alongside him in the coming weeks.

Well, The Athletic have reported that both Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, who came under fire at times last term for their performances, may be sold before the summer is up.

As such, it might be wise for Berta to consider signing another left-sided forward, who could sign in Eze’s stead or indeed cohabit with the Three Lions star in the Arsenal squad.

Arsenal lining up Eze alternative

According to transfer reporter Ben Jacobs, Arsenal are still monitoring the situation of Xavi Simons, with the RB Leipzig player expected to sign for a new club this summer.

Simons, 22, is one of the best young playmakers in Europe, and he’s versatile besides. Chelsea are engaged in talks with the Bundesliga side, but Arsenal and Bayern Munich remain interested. He is expected to cost around £56m.

It won’t be an easy one to pull off. Chelsea are indeed the frontrunners to sign the Netherlands international, so the Gunners will need to get a move on if they hope to steal ahead.

Why Arsenal should sign Xavi Simons

Formerly a prospect at Paris Saint-Germain, Simons arrived in Leipzig as a loanee at the start of the 2023/24 season before signing permanently in a €50m (£42m) deal.

Across 76 appearances for the Germans, he has scored 21 goals and has supplied 23 assists, operating, like Eze, across central and wide attacking midfield roles. Last season, he was most often found out on the left flank, where he notched nine goal involvements across only 17 outings.

Hailed as a “superstar” by analyst Ben Mattinson, this diminutive Dutchman has the remarkable blend of balance, technical skill and confidence to hit the ground running in the Premier League, sure to thrive where Eze would have at the Emirates Stadium, and sure to impress ahead of the aforementioned strugglers on the left flank in north London.

Eze is a little quicker, a tad more active in carrying the ball up and tracking back down. The Englishman likes to get shots off with greater consistency; however, a conversion rate of just 8% in the Premier League leaves plenty to be desired in that department.

In Simons, who has been described as a “special player” by coach Harry Brooks, Arsenal would be signing a potent and dynamic threat who would be the perfect Eze alternative, for he is both positionally and tactically similar.

Moreover, he would prove an upgrade on Arteta’s existing left wingers, who have both struggled to assert themselves thus far during Arsenal’s pre-season and will have undoubtedly provided him food for thought.

Martinelli is a talented winger, but he’s struggled to reach elite levels over the past couple of seasons, hitherto renowned as one of the most exciting up-and-coming forwards.

Across the past two Premier League seasons, he’s bagged himself 14 goals and eight assists across 68 matches. Hardly an awe-inspiring return, having drifted in and out of games and indeed the starting line-up too.

Then, with the 30-year-old Trossard, the boss might be seeking a more talented and complete winger, a fine goalscorer though Trossard may be. Last term, in fact, the Belgian missed more big chances (9) than he scored (8), as per Sofascore, which is the first time that has happened in five top-flight seasons.

It’s clear that Simons, a rising star with a point to prove, could be the perfect addition to an Arsenal side in need of some more creativity to complement Gyokeres up top.

Simons could be the perfect signing, should efforts to reel Eze over prove fruitless.

Everton ready to trigger £26m release clause for int'l full-back in January

da bet7k: Everton are now reportedly willing to trigger the £26m release clause in an “incredibly solid” player’s contract when the January transfer window opens.

Everton look to build on impressive start

da betano casino: The Blues are back in Premier League action this weekend after the September international break, with Aston Villa making the trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

After the disappointment of losing at Leeds United in the opening game of the season, Everton have responded impressively with two wins in the league, with new signing Jack Grealish catching the eye with his performances, and David Moyes continuing to thrive in his second stint as manager.

Villa will pose a greater threat to the Blues than Brighton and Wolves did, however, with Unai Emery’s side among the teams with genuine European aspirations, despite not yet impressing in 2025/26, failing to win any of their opening three matches.

Another win for Everton on Saturday, against strong opposition, would further suggest that an exciting campaign is on the cards for them, and now a player has been linked with a move to the club in January.

Everton willing to trigger £26m release clause for full-back

According to a report from Spain, Everton have decided to trigger Espanyol right-back Omar El Hilali’s £26m release clause in the next transfer window. The clause has now increased to £26m after El Hilali made his debut for Morocco during the international break.

The Blues tried to sign the 22-year-old in the summer window, but failed to get a deal over the line, however, it looks as though he is still a priority target, with The Friedkin Group not messing around when it comes to transfers of late.

El Hilali is a young player with a huge amount of promise, but also someone who could come straight in as a starter for Everton, providing great competition for Jake O’Brien at right-back from the off.

The Morocco international has racked up a total of 90 appearances for Espanyol, and 44 in La Liga, also registering seven assists in that time and showing that he can shine in one of Europe’s toughest leagues.

El Hilali has also been lauded by scout Jacek Kulig, who described him as “incredibly solid” during last season, helping his side finish 14th in La Liga.

Still only 22, Everton would be bringing in a long-term acquisition in El Hilali – one who should only improve as a player as the years pass, and he would be a different option to O’Brien, arguably adding more natural attacking quality than the Irishman, who is still a centre-back by trade.

How West Ham players really feel about Potter as “information” leaked from Rush Green

Despite the humongous pressure on Potter right now, great uncertainty surrounding his position and West Ham weighing up new managers behind-the-scenes, Ex suggests that Sullivan may hand the Englishman his P45 in and around the October international break.

This would give any new manager the chance to make a good start at home to Brentford on October 20 — not to mention a good few weeks to settle in and meet some of his new players.

The 50-year-old could even buy himself more time with a convincing performance against David Moyes’ Toffees at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but it would have to be a tremendous West Ham display to convince large sections of supporters that he’s still the right man to take them forward.

So far, the east Londoners have conceded more goals than any other side in the Premier League, with seven of their 13 concessions coming directly from corners.

Since Potter’s appointment in January, West Ham also have the worst overall Premier League record out of every single current side in the division, barring last year’s relegated trio.

Matters are desperate for the ex-Chelsea boss, and Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol has now shared how the squad feel about their under-fire tactician.

How West Ham players really feel about Graham Potter

Speaking on a Sky broadcast, via West Ham Zone, Solhekol claims that, despite their poor start to the season, Potter retains the backing of most West Ham players.

West Ham United managerGrahamPotterbefore the match

He also reports that the mood around Rush Green is somehow “very positive”, with the squad “united” in getting back to winning ways.

Even if this is the case among Potter’s squad, it is exactly the opposite when it comes to West Ham’s fanbase, who are growing increasingly impatient.

West Ham face fan protests at every Saturday home game this season

As per The Telegraph, the divisive board face protests from supporters at every single Saturday home game this season, with the ‘broken promises’ made after West Ham’s move to the London Stadium viewed as key to their discontent.

West Ham’s Fan Advisory Board sent a letter of no confidence to the ownership recently, having failed to build upon Moyes’ historic Europa Conference League victory in 2023, which ended their 43-year wait for a major trophy.

That night in Prague also marked the club’s first European piece of silverware since 1965, but it’s only been downhill ever since then.

Potter is now the latest coach after Julen Lopetegui to bear the brunt of West Ham’s arguable mismanagement, and it is hard to see how any new manager can restore the positivity from Moyes’ era in charge any time soon.

Man Utd struck gold signing "incredible" gem worth more than Mbeumo & Cunha

da pixbet: Manchester United have splashed the cash once again this summer, with the board handing manager Ruben Amorim the opportunity to make the desired changes to his first-team squad.

da 888casino: Such spending is no surprise to the fanbase, especially after previous manager Erik ten Hag was handed over £600m in the transfer market during his own tenure at Old Trafford.

However, there will be hope that the additions made by the 40-year-old will be more impactful, hopefully making a positive impact and subsequently catapulting the side up the Premier League table.

Manchester United manager RubenAmorimbefore the match

Antony and Rasmus Hojlund are just two players signed by the Dutchman, but both departed Old Trafford on deadline day after falling down the pecking order since Amorim’s arrival.

Their departures highlight the faith the manager has in his new additions to help provide the goods in his quest for future success during his time in England.

United’s moves to land Cunha & Mbeumo this summer

After scoring just 44 times in the Premier League in 2024/25, attention was turned to United’s frontline – with £200m being spent on new additions in such a department.

Matheus Cunha joined the Red Devils in a £62.5m deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers, offering an added threat within the attacking department after scoring 15 times last season.

Manchester United's Matheus Cunha

Whilst the Brazilian is yet to score since his big-money transfer, he has shown glimpses of his talent, creating 1.3 chances per 90 to date – but he may be set for a spell on the sideline after picking up a hamstring injury against Burnley.

He’s been joined in such a department by Bryan Mbeumo, after the Cameroonian international also cost a whopping £65m from Brentford – after netting 20 goals of his own in England’s top-flight in 2024/25.

The 26-year-old has already opened his account at Old Trafford, netting against Burnley last weekend – helping the side claim their first win of the new campaign.

The United player who’s worth more than Mbeuno & Cunha

Despite Ten Hag’s failures in the transfer market, he did make some impressive additions to the United squad – including that of centre-back Lisandro Martínez.

The Argentine joined the Red Devils in a package totalling £57m in the summer of 2022, going on to make 91 appearances for the club over the last three campaigns.

Whilst injuries have massively halted his progress at Old Trafford, he’s still produced numerous moments of magic, including his superb strike against Liverpool at Anfield last season.

The 27-year-old still remains sidelined with a knee injury, but could return in November, potentially partnering Leny Yoro at the heart of the backline once again.

The Frenchman joined United in a £52m transfer from Lille last summer, with the teenager seen as an immediate and long-term option to help bolster the club’s defensive department.

He’s since racked up 36 first-team appearances over the last 12 months, starting in all three of the Red Devils’ league outings in the 2025/26 campaign to date.

Despite his defensive role, the 19-year-old has already found the net once, scoring in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final against Lyon last campaign – subsequently helping Amorim’s side reach another European final.

In the early stages of the new season, Yoro has already won 60% of the tackles he’s entered, whilst winning 82% of his aerial battles – offering Amorim’s side a commanding presence at the heart of his defence.

As a result of his performances of late, the youngster is now valued at £69.4m by FootballTransfers – a figure that is higher than the fees paid for Mbeumo and Cunha this window.

Aston Villa struck gold on "machine" who's worth more than Elliott & Sancho

da fezbet: It has been an alarming start to the brand new Premier League season for Aston Villa.

da 888casino: Unai Emery’s men remain without a win after their first three drab contests in the tough division, with zero goals tallied up, as their latest defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace sounded the alarm bells even more, considering the Eagles wiped the floor with the Villans on their own patch 3-0.

Still, Emery will know he can turn it around at the Villa Park helm, with a bumper 76 wins under his belt, managing the West Midlands outfit.

He will also be helped by some flashy new additions that entered the building on deadline day, as both Harvey Elliott and Jadon Sancho now try to boost a forlorn Villa side on loan.

Aston Villa's exciting deadline day additions

After all, Villa have won very recently when it comes to getting the very best out of a loanee from a Premier League rival, with Marcus Rashford linking up with Emery and Co. last season from Manchester United to pick up a hefty ten goal contributions from 17 appearances.

Sancho will be hoping he can have a similar positive impact on proceedings, donning his new claret and blue, having just come off a promising campaign at Chelsea when loaned away from Old Trafford, where he mustered up his own impressive tally of five strikes and ten assists from 42 clashes.

For a star that was once worth £73m when entering the Theatre of Dreams, it will all centre on him trying to salvage his faltering playing days even more under Emery’s wing, with his estimated valuation now sitting at a far lower £27m, as per Football Transfers.

For £8m more, Villa could well welcome Elliott permanently after his initial loan stint is up from Liverpool, with a £35m obligation to buy having been included as part of the deal. That is in line with his current market valuation of around £34m.

This doesn’t feel like an extortionate amount to fork out either, considering the two-time Premier League winner can boast 15 goal contributions in the challenging league, despite only making just 35 starts for the Reds in the division.

Away from the plethora of new buys arriving in the West Midlands, Emery will also know he has some individuals in his side already that can deliver on the big stage, irrespective of his team’s limp opening to the campaign.

The Aston Villa star worth more than Sancho & Elliott

The former Arsenal boss has been a transformative presence for many a Villans star since he arrived at the club in 2022.

Indeed, Morgan Rogers has been turned into a Premier League superstar under the Spaniard’s expertise, with a bumper 17 goals and 17 assists next to his name for the claret and blue half of Birmingham.

Subsequently, the recent PFA Young Player of the Year recipient has been touted to step away from Villa Park for a whopping £100m, amid interest from the likes of Arsenal, despite only joining at the start of 2024 for a meagre £8m.

Amazingly, Ollie Watkins also joined the Villans back in 2020 for a reasonable £28m, with the experienced attacker now a feared Premier League goal machine for Emery’s men when performing to the peak of his powers.

Watkins has never looked back since deserting Brentford, having now amassed a mammoth 75 Premier League strikes for Villa, which has led to the 5-foot-11 marksman being dubbed as “unbelievable” by ex-Villa player Stephen Warnock, on top of being heralded as a “machine” Brentford’s programme editor, Chris Deacon.

Off the back of being consistently red-hot in front of goal, as seen glancing at his blistering numbers above, Watkins’ own estimated valuation now comes in at a mammoth £55m, as per Football Transfers, making him a more pricey asset than his compatriots, Elliott and Sancho, despite their esteemed reputations.

The 29-year-old has fired some uncharacteristic blanks so far this season, but there is hope he can turn it around.

With both Elliott and Sancho through the door, Emery has some fresh, exciting attacking personnel to experiment with, alongside his attempts to get the very best out of the Villa old guard again.

Better than Calvert-Lewin: Leeds pushing hard to sign £17.5m "nightmare"

da realbet: There has been a real focus from Leeds United to strengthen in attack this summer. The Whites have signed three new forwards, with Noah Okafor the only one they paid for, joining from Milan for £18m. Lukas Nmecha was one of the free signings, and he scored on his debut against Everton from the spot.

da casino: The other centre-forward who didn’t cost a penny was Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The England international switched to Elland Road after his Everton contract expired. However, his debut for the club, a Carabao Cup tie defeat away to Sheffield Wednesday, saw him miss a couple of chances and a penalty in the shootout.

Daniel Farke seems to think there is still work to be done in attack, with Leeds looking at signing another forward.

Leeds' new attacking targets

Even though they scored more goals than any side in the Championship last season, the Whites have still focused on bolstering their attack.

Transfer Focus

Mega money deals, controversial moves and big-name flops. This is the home of transfer news and opinion across Football FanCast.

One name who has cropped up recently is Nottingham Forest winger Jota Silva, with the forward emerging as a target for Leeds.

However, it seems that they could jump ahead of Premier League rivals in the race for another striker. According to a report from TEAMtalk, Farke’s side have ‘swooped in’ to sign Christantus Uche from Spanish side Getafe.

He looked destined to join Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer, but an issue agreeing on personal terms has opened the door for Leeds to hijack the move.

West Ham United, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth, as well as Serie A giants Milan, have also shown interest in the £17.5m-rated star, but Leeds are now ‘pushing hard’ to get a deal done.

Why Uche would be a good signing

With Leeds looking to add further depth to their attack, it is no surprise that they have rejoined the race to sign Uche.

The Nigeria international has a unique profile, standing at 6 foot 3, and can play as a striker and a number 10.

Described as a “defender’s nightmare” by football scout Antonio Mango, the 22-year-old certainly showed his threat in the final third last season. In 33 games for Getafe, he bagged four goals and assisted a further six. Not mindblowing numbers by any stretch of the imagination but he caught the eye.

The 2025/26 campaign has begun superbly for Uche. Getafe’s number 10 is already on the board this term and grabbed an assist, with both contributions coming in their season opener against Celta Vigo. The La Liga side won 2-0, with Uche playing a key role in both goals.

The same cannot be said for Calvert-Lewin, who struggled on his debut for the Whites.

His final season as an Everton player saw the 28-year-old find the back of the net just three times in 26 appearances.

Unfortunately, that tough form continued in his first game as a Leeds player. Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Lee Sobot gave him a 5/10 post-match rating and described his night as a “debut to forget”, with WhoScored explaining his missed chances had an expected goals tally of 2.14 xG.

It is easy to see how Uche could be an upgrade on Calvert-Lewin already in Farke’s squad. He has been quick out of the blocks this season, whereas the new Leeds star struggled on debut. On top of that, Getafe’s number 10 outscored him last term.

The stats from the 2024/25 season back up the sentiment. For example, the Nigerian star averaged 0.36 goals and assists and 2.82 shot-creating actions per 90 minutes. In comparison, Leeds’ new number nine averaged 0.22 goals and assists and 1.46 shot-creating actions each game.

With his effectiveness in front of goal, the unique profile and the versatility that he offers, it is easy to see how Uche would be an upgrade on Calvert-Lewin.

Hijacking this deal for the cheap price of £17.5m would surely be a smart move for the Yorkshire side as they look to beat the drop this season.

Their own Isak: Aston Villa target £15m “poor man's Haaland” after Sancho

da betway: Aston Villa have all but secured the late loan signing of Jadon Sancho from Manchester United. Fabrizio Romano has given the move his famous “here we go” tag, which has essentially confirmed that a deal has been struck.

da gbg bet: Without doubt, Villa require attacking reinforcements, given they are yet to score in any of their three games this season. Sancho is not the only forward who could switch to Villa Park on deadline day.

Aston Villa plot next move after Sancho

Aside from making a late move for Sancho, it has been reported by The Mail’s Simon Jones (09:21) that Unai Emery’s side are one of the clubs ‘showing late interest’ in signing Newcastle United striker William Osula.

Transfer Focus

With Villa ‘scouring the market for forward options’ before the window slams shut at 7pm today, as per Jones, Osula is one of the latest names to crop up.

The price is not yet clear, but he cost the Magpies £15m last summer, so they would surely want to make that money back, at least.

Why Osula would be a good signing

There is no doubt that Osula is far from the finished article. At just 22 years of age and with minimal Premier League experience under his belt, he is someone who Emery can help develop as a striker over the next few years.

The Denmark under-21 international has experience in the EFL and Premier League. Overall, he has 38 top-flight games under his belt, finding the back of the net twice, both for Newcastle, with one coming this season against Liverpool.

However, he has only played 1013 minutes, the equivalent of just 11 full 90 minutes.

The 22-year-old shone for Denmark at the under-21 European Championships this summer. His record was impressive, with three goals and two assists in just four games.

In that time, he averaged 1.5 key passes per game. That is the sort of quality Villa could be signing.

It is easy to see how Osula could become Villa’s own Alexander Isak. Of course, the Newcastle connection is there, with both strikers also hailing from Scandinavia.

The 22-year-old is, of course, a Dane, and Isak was born just outside of Stockholm.

Newcastle striker Alexander Isak

However, they both have similar builds, too. Osula is a tall striker standing at six feet and four inches, the same height as Isak. Both use their lanky frames to match defenders physically, and their long stride and powerful running style help them get a yard on opponents in a foot race.

That tall frame and big physicality are perhaps why Osula has been compared to Manchester City striker Erling Haaland in the past. His former teammate Curtis Davies once described him as a “poor man’s Haaland”, and with his build, it is easy to see why.

If the Dane can have the same impact at Villa Park that Isak had at St James’ Park, he will be a huge success.

The Liverpool-bound star bagged 62 goals and assisted 11 in 109 games for Eddie Howe’s side.

This could be a bargain for Villa. Osual is far from being the finished article, but with his profile and build, he has all the tools to make it as a successful striker in the Premier League. With some guidance from Emery, the Villans could have an exciting prospect on their hands.

Romano: Crystal Palace target "unique" £67m star as perfect Eze replacement

da leao: 2025 will forever be an historic year for Crystal Palace, but a crucial week or so in the transfer market awaits, if Oliver Glasner’s side are going to enjoy another strong season.

da aposte e ganhe: The Eagles had never won a major trophy before, but have now picked up two, defeating Manchester City in May’s FA Cup Final, before fighting back from behind twice to beat Liverpool on penalties in the FA Community Shield earlier this month.

As cup winners, Palace entered a major European competition for the very first time on Thursday night, facing Fredrikstad in the Conference League play-offs, prevailing 1-0 in the first leg at Selhurst Park, with Jean-Philippe Mateta the night’s only scorer.

So, advantage Palace, but work to do if they’re to oust the Norwegian Cup winners next Thursday and book their spot in the league phase.

Meantime, with Glasner’s star man departing, and other key players potentially set to follow, expect Steve Parish to be busy in the transfer market between now and the window closing on 1 September.

Crystal Palace's need for reinforcements

As has been widely reported, including by David Ornstein of the Athletic, Arsenal are poised to sign Eberechi Eze for around £67.5m, hijacking the deal, when it appeared as though the England international was going to join Tottenham instead.

From a Palace perspective, they’re losing their talisman, a player who scored 14 goals and registered 11 assists across all competitions last season, including scoring the opener in both the FA Cup semi-finals and final at Wembley.

Eze certainly will not be an easy man to replace, but have the Eagles identified their top target?

Well, according to Fabrizio Romano, Crystal Palace have Yéremy Pino on “their list of targets” to replace Eze, adding that a deal with Villarreal will not be easy to finalise.

Meantime, a report by the Guardian claims that signing Yéremy is their number one priority, noting that he has a £67m release clause, but Palace are very much ‘hoping to pay less’, making contact with the La Liga side who ‘are not keen on selling’.

To date, just four Spaniards have called Selhurst home, namely Vicente Guaita, Pablo Couñago, José Campaña and Víctor Camarasa, so could that extremely exclusive club be about to gain a new member?

What Pino would be a dream replacement for Eze

To date, Yéremy is a one-club man, joining Villarreal as a 15-year-old, making his senior debut in 2020, and accumulating 169 senior appearances for the Yellow Submarine to date.

By starting the 2021 Europa League Final, which his side won on penalties against Manchester United in Gdańsk, aged 19 years and 4 days at the time, he became the youngest player to win a UEFA club competition final.

Now 22, he’s continued to be a consistent performer for el Submarino Amarillo, who are back in the Champions League this season.

António Mango labels him a “unique talent”, while Ruairidh Barlow is impressed by his dribbling, creativity, intelligence and overall technical ability.

So, let’s assess how he compared to Eze last season.

As the table outlines, while Eze does come out on top for the vast majority of attacking metrics included, there are some key stylistic similarities between the pair.

Both registered eight league assists, with the Spaniard creating marginally more big chances per 90, with the pair’s number of forward passes and their take-on success percentage nigh on identical.

Despite mustering fewer shots, Yéremy did rack up more touches in the opposition’s penalty area too, emphasising that he is a goal threat.

Thus, while all Palace supporters will be heartbroken about the news of Eze’s departure, and finding a replacement of equivalent quality will be pretty much impossible, Yéremy might just fit the bill.

Still only 22 years old, the Spain international also has plenty of room for improvement, so could he soon be strutting his stuff in South London?

Club "want to sell" £50m forward to Tottenham, Thomas Frank also keen

da bet nacional: Tottenham manager Thomas Frank unceremoniously missed out on his second playmaker of the summer on Wednesday evening, so he is in dire need of some good news when it comes to recruitment.

da realbet: Despite Spurs’ very advanced talks for Eberechi Eze, Arsenal swooped in to hijack Daniel Levy’s negotiations after Kai Havertz’s injury, and they swiftly shook hands on a deal with Palace overnight.

Tottenham were believed to have a verbal pact in place with Palace and agreed personal terms with Eze, so it looked like a matter of time before the north Londoners welcomed him to N17.

However, the decision ultimately came down to Eze, as both Spurs and Arsenal were prepared to meet Palace’s demands at club level.

The England international chose Arsenal due to his long-standing connection with them through his boyhood academy years at the club (Alasdair Gold), with Frank and Levy now back to square one in their pursuit of a number 10.

They’ve been in this position before this summer, with Morgan Gibbs-White also failing to seal what was once a very advanced move to Tottenham after Nottingham Forest blocked the deal.

With Spurs’ mission to sign a James Maddison replacement now set to continue with just 12 days to go until the transfer deadline on September 1, the Lilywhites also have other positions they need to reinforce.

Frank believes that Tottenham actually need two number 10s after Maddison’s long-term injury, but whether the Dane gets his wish is another matter.

Elsewhere, it is reliably reported that Spurs also want to sign a new winger and centre-back (Michael Bridge).

Brentford captain Nathan Collins and Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie are among Tottenham’s defensive targets, while Man City winger Savinho is still being chased by Spurs despite Pep Guardiola’s side blocking the deal as of now (Fabrizio Romano).

Believe it or not, Brentford striker Yoane Wissa may also remain a possibility too.

Brentford "want to sell" Yoane Wissa to Tottenham as they delay Newcastle deal

According to The Mail’s Craig Hope, there is a feeling behind-the-scenes that the Bees are delaying their deal with Newcastle, having just rejected a second bid for the Congolese, because Brentford “want to sell” Wissa to Tottenham instead – due to their relationship with Frank.

The Dane would also be keen on signing his ex-star. However, any move for Wissa is dependent on revitalised centre-forward Richarlison leaving and a club meeting his minimum £50m valuation.

The Brazilian was actually offered as a makeweight in talks for Eze, as per this report, but that now won’t be happening.

Perhaps if they can offer out Richarlison in part-exchange for another playmaker, the door could reopen for Wissa, but for now, the 29-year-old has his “heart set” on a move to St. James’ Park.

He would be an excellent replacement for Richarlison, scoring 19 goals in the Premier League last season and earning plenty of praise from Frank in the past.

Levy warned "standout" Tottenham target is now close to joining another club

da bet vitoria: Tottenham and chairman Daniel Levy have been sent a warning by intermediaries behind-the-scenes that one of their targets is now close to joining another club, according to a new report.

da bet esporte: As we now enter the last three weeks of this summer’s transfer window, the pressure is on Levy, technical director Johan Lange and the Lilywhites recruitment team to shore up weakened areas of Thomas Frank’s squad.

Tottenham are already set to take on Ligue 1 and European champions PSG in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday with an arguably weaker squad than last season, having lost club legend Son Heung-min to LAFC and James Maddison to a long-term ACL injury.

The need to strengthen is absolutely paramount, especially since fellow creative force Dejan Kulusevski will remain sidelined with his own knee problem for a “long time”, according to Frank.

Spurs have already signed Mathys Tel, Mohammed Kudus, Kota Takai and Joao Palhinha on loan this window, as well as triggering the obligation to buy in Kevin Danso’s deal from January, but the north Londoners are aiming to bring in more new additions before the deadline on September 1.

As widely reported, Tottenham are in talks with Man City over signing Brazilian winger Savinho after losing Son, with the former Girona star increasingly open to joining after Frank personally pinpointed him as the ideal signing.

A deal for the 21-year-old is likely to cost in excess of £45 million (Ben Jacobs), which could still be seen as excellent value considering Savinho’s age and performances in all competitions last season.

Meanwhile, to cope without Maddison for a large portion of 2025/2026, it is also believed that Spurs have emerged as serious contenders to sign Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze and could hijack Arsenal’s long-winded pursuit.

Levy and Lange were after a number 10 even before Maddison’s injury, having failed with a high-profile move for Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White earlier in the window, but the need for a new attacking midfield maestro has now intensified.

According to reliable journalist Alasdair Gold recently, Tottenham are also keen on signing another centre-back.

Tottenham sent Joel Ordonez warning as Marseille close in on deal

As per TBR Football and journalist Graeme Bailey, Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez has been on their radar for around 12 months and the club have stayed in regular contact.

However, intermediaries have now warned Tottenham that Marseille are closing in on a deal for Ordonez, so if Levy is serious about signing the Ecuadorian, he’ll have to act very quickly.

Both Frank and Liverpool boss Arne Slot are said to be monitoring developments when it comes to the 21-year-old’s potential move to France, with Bailey reporting that Ordonez is viewed as a “standout” performer for Brugge and a “huge talent”.

“Ordonez is a huge talent, I am told by numerous Premier League clubs that this boy is held in huge regard,” said Bailey.

“He is one of those players that not just shows up analytically but when you watch him, he really is a standout performer.”
